I’m trying to create virtual machines for gOS 3 gadgets, but right after turning it on, an error message appears on the screen

The VirtualBox Cyclist kernel is not installed. Part of the core vboxdrv was not loaded, or perhaps /dev/vboxdrv was not built for many reasons. Kernel module that needs to be reconfigured to run “/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup” as root.
VBox reputation code: -1908 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED).

When I run “vboxdrv setup” on the command line it takes 3] up

I used Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid with 1GB good old RAM on a PCG-GRT360ZG Vaio laptop. I am trying to start virtualbox, which sits on top of Sun VirtualBox xVM. Can anyone try?

I just didn’t want Post Basic to be overloaded with information

It’s already installed. Okay. My vision will ask you, like in a fabulous TV repair shop: “Are all TVs plugged in?” What EXACT command did you enter? Should it be like this:
sudo /etc/init.Vboxdrv m setup You must use “sudo” before the actual command. I think you probably got it right, otherwise buying our own “VirtualBox Kernel Module Stop” will probably fail at dawn.

Let’s see… Based on the output you posted, this looks like an older version of VirtualBox (version 1.6.2). This may be the cause of your problem. You downloaded VirtualBox directly from Sun or added the main Sun Virtualbox repositories? If your family hasn’t added the repositories, but honestly just downloaded the package, follow my rough instructions in the middle of the next page to add the repository of the day:

You should get an upgrade warning for Virtualbox after reloading the package database type. If so, update it and you’ll be fine.

If there is no update notification, use the Synaptic Package Manager to reinstall VirtualBox (be careful not to select the ese… version, after adding the Sun library, both versions are listed here in the package list in the package manager)

I took part in
[Sparta 15] Desktop > sudo su
[Sparta 1] Desktop > cd /etc/init.d
[Sparta 2] init.d > vboxdrv-setup

Is this an alternative to “sudo running /etc/init.d vboxdrv setup”?

I was using Sun Virtualbox and databases, but I didn’t get a notification in Virtualbox.

I also can’t reinstall Virtualbox in Synaptic so I uninstalled it in Synaptic and tried to install positively but it gave our family this
